歷史沿革
早于1970年代后期，由于興建地鐵荃灣線，荔枝角大橋(葵涌道)以內(nèi)的荔枝角灣被填平，灣內(nèi)的泳棚和劃艇場消失。北端的荔枝角泳池和室內(nèi)體育館首先于1980年代落成。南端亦落實興建荔枝角公園，第一期于1990年啟用。
1990年代初期，西九龍?zhí)詈９こ淌估笾谴髽蛞约懊梨谛逻椧阅系暮Ｓ蜃兂申懙兀笾枪珗@就再向該處擴展，以作為西九龍公路和美孚新邨之間的緩沖帶。但有部分地段受到九廣西鐵工程所影響，在1998年-20xx年間，九廣鐵路公司負責(zé)重置荔枝角公園內(nèi)所有受西鐵工程影響的設(shè)施，第二及第三期發(fā)展亦作出相應(yīng)修訂，進行加建及改善設(shè)施工程，西鐵美孚站上蓋亦加建了花園。

整個公園分為十個景區(qū)，園內(nèi)的建筑物皆環(huán)繞著中央水池向外伸延，以院落回廊為布局。其建筑藝術(shù)也是采用嶺南風(fēng)格，如陶塑、瓦作、灰塑、石雕和木砌等，而假山石則以英德太湖石為主。此外，園內(nèi)掛有多副對聯(lián)，撰聯(lián)人有梁啟超、劉華東、李文田、康有為等。公園由東門至橋廊屋檐，均綴以彩色光纖燈飾，令園景在月夜下更添嫵媚。園的內(nèi)外廣植樹木，綠樹成蔭;此外，更有精致的盆景擺設(shè)，供游人欣賞。
卵石徑
花園內(nèi)的一個景點為“健康去屣”。這是一條用卵石鋪砌而成的小徑，游人赤足或穿著布鞋，于卵石徑上來回步行，便能刺激足底的神經(jīng)反射區(qū)，促進足部血液循環(huán)。每天的不同時段，均見游人如鯽，可見卵石徑甚受歡迎。
磚雕
公園的東門墻壁上刻有兩組磚雕，手工精細，人物造型栩栩如生，值得仔細欣賞。其中一組磚雕刻劃了《水滸傳》的36名英雄好漢?！端疂G傳》是我國四大名著之一，由元代施耐庵根據(jù)家喻戶曉的梁山泊好漢事跡為藍本，編撰而成。故事以北宋末年為背景，當(dāng)時有108位英雄好漢在梁山泊聚義，劫富濟貧，除暴安良，當(dāng)中以“及時雨”宋江、“豹子頭”林沖、“花和尚”魯智深、“黑旋風(fēng)”李逵、“行者”武松最為人所熟悉。
至于另一組磚雕，則描述八仙渡海的情景。八仙是曹國舅、李鐵、鐘離權(quán)、呂洞賓、何仙姑、藍采和、張果老和韓湘子;他們的法寶分別是拍板、葫蘆、葵扇、寶劍、荷花、花籃、漁鼓和洞簫。
